A Little Spring Cleaning for your makeup bag - Part 1

Hello Girls,

Well, is that time of the year when we want to spruce up our houses, get all the dust out and let some fresh air come in. So...it's time to do the same with our skincare and glamour products! NO ONE would like to put expired stuff our a bacteria playground on the face. Yuck! And it's a good way to declutter our life from unnecessary products that are invading our precious bag, dresser and bathroom space.

Do you own your very personal makeup graveyard? Time to toss out products!
Now, to be very clear, the FDA does not require manufacturers to print expiration dates on the labels of cosmetic products. (if you want to find out direct from the source click here)

Here are some general rules about what to throw away:
  1. Skin Care: Eliminate any bottles of cleansers, toners, scrubs, etc. that you're simply not using and they aren't part of your skin care rutine. Better yet, substitute with multitasking products that will make your life easier and will save you time like the TimeWise Miracle Set
  2. Eye Area Cosmetics: This products are constantly exposed to bacteria. If you have had an eye infection or if you have shared liner or mascara, please, throw it away and get a new one. In general, mascara and eyeliner should be replaced every two to four months for sanitary reasons. If your mascara is drying out, it's time to buy. Replace eye shadow if is two years old or more (cream shadows a little earlier). If for some silly reason you used saliva with your applicator to moist eyeshadow, you are seriously risking an eye infection, so both shadow and applicator belong in the trash can.
  3. If a product has changed consistency, color or smell, time to buy a new one.
  4. Here is a summary list (and a general idea)
On my next blog, I will bring you great ideas on how to organize your newly adquired make up and skin care products.

Have a good one!
